Noetic AI Founder and Director Zoi Roupakia has been selected as an expert contributor to United for Smart Sustainable Cities (U4SSC) Working Group 8: Guiding Principles and Frameworks for People-Centred Smart Cities in the AI Era.
U4SSC is a global United Nations initiative coordinated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and UN-Habitat, with support from 20 UN entities, including UNIDO, UNESCO and UN-Women. U4SSC provides an international platform for knowledge exchange and partnership-building to support cities and communities in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Working Group 8 is co-led by UN-Habitat and ITU and sits within the Thematic Group on Digital Transformation for People-Centred Cities. Bringing together experts from different countries and professional backgrounds, the group is developing practical frameworks and a People-Centred Smart Cities Toolbox for urban planners, policymakers and city leaders.
Its work will examine how cities can use AI and other digital technologies across urban services while supporting accountability, inclusion, resilience and public value.
The appointment complements Noetic AI’s wider work on AI governance and responsible innovation. It also builds on Zoi’s participation in the EU AI Office working groups that supported the development of the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, and her contributions to UNECE innovation policy initiatives.
Working Group 8 began its activities with a kick-off meeting on 3 August 2026.
